Forest inspiration
We were in the forest today, enjoying the peace and quiet, having a picnic and a wonder. Mike was with us in body (although his mind was listening to the grand prix) so Rachel and I were chatting.
We were talking about the trees, plants and animals and she was amazed by all the different shades of green and brown around us. She started collecting pine cones and leaves and decided that she'd make a collage of the forest when we got back to the flat.
Whilst collecting objects that could be used to depict a forest, in small scale, she started finding larger objects. Just like that, she started a second collection to make a forest picture on the picnic blanket.
Suddenly she had two projects under way and was collecting left, right and centre. And just look at what the forest inspired her to create on our picnic blanket.
And later, on paper, a second scene was created.
This is what childhood is all about; exploring, seeing, absorbing and creating; and the forest is the perfect playground and inspiration.
